Bertie

Known for groovy, chuggy sonic explorations, Bertie’s is a Australian-born-London-based DJ and Producer, who revels in the journey, crafting a unique and synergistic experience with each and every dancefloor. While her sets often traverse the genres of house, disco, acid, and prog, the truth is, no genre is really off the table. Her approach is one that will keep you guessing, grounded only by a consistent fusion of stylistic preferences; chugging baselines, punchy percussion, acidic motifs, and euphoric highlights. With her biggest influences spanning the 70s, 80s and 90s, and her passion for storytelling and personalised audio layering, Bertie’s productions have carved out a space of their own. A fresh take on house music that honours the queer origins of the genre, while finding new modern expressions. It’s this sound that has garnered her releases across Correspondent Records, Duality Trax, Flip the Lid, and Phenomena Records, with more releases in the pipeline. A mainstay in her hometown of Naarm/Melbourne, Bertie believes music and community go hand-in-hand. That’s why she kick started Freqy Rhythm, a multi-disciplinary LGBTQI+ platform, event series and record label, creating new opportunities for queer artists and carving out spaces for community connection. Meanwhile her performance resume is vast and impressive, having toured Australia, played in the UK and EU, thrown down at Pitch Music & Arts, Strawberry Fields, Sugar Mountain, Gaytimes, Daybreak, Wonder Mountain and Beyond the Valley, and support the likes of Black Coffee, Bradley Zero, Cormac, CC:DISCO, Denis Sulta, DJ Boring, Eris Drew and Octo Octa, fka.m4a, Kornél Kovács, Leon Vynehall, Patrick Holland and rRoxymore. Currently living between two cities, Melbourne and London, Bertie is on the rise and one to watch… and stream, and download, and dance to, and of course, follow, like and subscribe.
