Born from half Iraqi, half German roots, Habibi Grooves has spent over a decade building a sound that refuses easy categorisation. His sets move freely across the full house music spectrum — deep, soulful, jackin', tech, old school Chicago and New York — drawing on whatever serves the floor in that moment, including breakbeats and classic techno when the room calls for it. But the thread running through everything is a lifelong relationship with Arabic music: over the last two years he has been reworking and recontextualising Arabic tracks to make them work in club environments, introducing dancers to sounds they may never have heard in this context. He has played at Sisyphos, Watergate, Renate, OXI, Crack Bellmer, Golden Gate, Menschmeier and Ipse in Berlin — as well as Avelanche Festival in Kurdistan, Iraq, where he has built a following across multiple appearances. He is the founder of Berlin House Music, a label and platform dedicated to amplifying emerging artists in the house scene.
